FOOD INTOLLERANCES

More than 4 million

Australians suffer with allergies and intolerances.

Allergic disorders such as atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, asthma, hives, anaphylaxis and food intolerances, arise from disturbances to the delicate balance of the gut and immune systems.

There are multitude of underlying factors ranging from genetics, environmental, and inflammatory drivers, may act as initial triggers.

When you’re struggling

with food intolerances, it can feel impossible to pinpoint what foods you’re reacting to, as flare-ups seem to be random.

Once you understand what’s happening below the surface, you’ll realise these flare-ups are not ‘random’ at all.

Everyone has their own individual threshold tolerance of food chemicals (salicylates, amines, glutamates, histamines and sugars), and only experience a flare-up in symptoms once this threshold has been surpassed, after consuming high chemical foods over a period of time.

How would it change your life to be rid of flare ups?

Food Intolerances are often triggered by a compromised gut microbiome.

Poor diet, stress and medications can affect the gut and may cause inflammation or an imbalance in the gut microbiome, which can cause the gut lining to become more permeable, allowing undigested food particles, bacteria and other toxins to ‘leak’ into the blood stream, known as ‘leaky gut’.

These substances ‘leaking’ into the blood are recognised by the immune system as foreign invaders, triggering an inflammatory response. This ongoing inflammatory response causes the body to start reacting to food, or food components, that were previously not an issue.

This triggers more inflammation, which further inflames the gut lining, and the cycle perpetuates.

FOOD INTOLERANCE IS YOUR BODY’S ABNORMAL REACTION TO CERTAIN FOODS.

Food intolerances differ from allergies, they involve a chemical reaction, rather than an immune reaction.

We offer

many different tests to assess how your body reacts to certain foods.

Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • severe headaches
  • bloating
  • irritable bowel syndrome
  • tiredness
  • skin conditions
  • respiratory problems

It is often difficult for people to tell if they have an intolerance – especially when they have been living with it for some time – as symptoms often take hours or even days to appear.
